A Monkey come and eat my bananas!

  • I found a project from Anneke van Giersbergen (Agua de Annique, ex-The Gathering) with and Danny Cavanagh (Anathema, Leafblade). Is a album at alive recorded in March this year, features some stunning moments from their collaborations on stage, including songs from both their careers. I only found yet 2 songs on streaming on myspace of Anneke , Teardrop (cover of Massive Attack) and A Natural Disaster (cover of Anathema). The album is called Anneke van Giersbergen and Danny Cavanagh - In Parallel and can be buy at http://aftermathshop.com .
  • Travis are in tour and I've found a album named, like they named the tour, "An Evening with Fran Healy & Andy Dunlop". Old songs and some covers from their one songs with a little of cheap chat from them at stage. You can download the album here (again, is not my upload and I doubt that you can buy so you do whatever you want to do with the download)

  • You know that are all kind burglars. If you know by see it on the news, is for read on the news paper, internet, whatever. So Playboy have done a Special Edition

I'm not a Playboy follower but I smiled when I read that Marge Simpson was the special invited of this special edition.
Some pics are now on the *internet* but the funniest thing is the interview (or virtual interview)

PLAYBOY: First Marilyn Monroe, then Madonna and now Marge Simpson. How does a nice girl from Springfield end up in Playboy?

SIMPSON: A nice girl like me would never display her body if it weren't to raise money for charity. That's why I'm donating my hefty fee from this tasteful pictorial to SPHG-Saving and Preserving Historic Gazebos. Gazebos are disappearing, people, and they're not coming back!

PLAYBOY: You must have gotten some interesting reactions from friends and family. What did Homer say? Lisa? Bart?
SIMPSON: Homer said he was intrigued because he had never heard of your magazine. The notion of women posing in the buff was completely foreign to him. Wasn't it sweet of him to lie? When Lisa heard about this, she said it was empowering to see a woman in control of her own body. Wasn't it sweet of her to lie? Bart will never learn about this under any circumstance.

PLAYBOY: Why pose now? Is this something you would have considered when you were younger?
SIMPSON: Oh no. When I was young, I didn't have the wisdom and poise needed to allow myself to be photographed in my underpants, leaning against a jukebox.

PLAYBOY: Regular viewers of the show know you and Homer have always had a great marriage with a healthy sex life. What's your secret to relationship success?

SIMPSON: Homer and I have one rule that has worked incredibly well: Never go to bed hungry.

PLAYBOY: What advice do you give your daughters about men?
SIMPSON: I always tell my Lisa she should marry the man who loves her. It doesn't matter if he's losing his hair or is overweight or is at a bar every night.or if he forgets your birthday and anniversary.. All that matters is that nothing means anything to him but you.

PLAYBOY: What advice do you give Bart about the fairer sex?
SIMPSON: I say, "You won't meet any girls in prison, which is where you seem to be headed."

PLAYBOY: When did you first know Homer was the one?
SIMPSON: Well, when the doctor said I was pregnant, I heard a voice saying "That's the man you're going to marry." The voice was my mother's.

PLAYBOY: Have you ever thought about dyeing your hair blonde? Do blondes have less fun?
SIMPSON: I don't know about blondes, but I just found a few grays in my blue. It's as though there's a civil war on top of my head.

PLAYBOY: As a stay-at-home mom, what do you pride yourself on doing around the house?
SIMPSON: Searching for your magazines and throwing them away.

PLAYBOY: In the bedroom?
SIMPSON: Yes, they're usually in the bedroom.

PLAYBOY: When you were Lisa's age, what did you think your adult life would be like? How does the reality measure up to your early expectations?

SIMPSON: When I was a little girl there were three men I wanted to marry: Elton John, Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly. But for some reason it never worked out.

PLAYBOY: Generally speaking, magazine covers are the purview of celebrities. Did you ever want to be famous? Do you enjoy this attention?

SIMPSON: I'm just happy to be a MILK-Mom I'd Like to Know

chica vete a tu casa no podremos jugar

News of the week

Well it seems Disney buy Marvel comics for approximately $4 bilions, almost $50 per Marvel share. On the online press release have some comments of the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company.

"This transaction combines Marvel's strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney's creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories," said Robert A. Iger, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. "Ike Perlmutter and his team have done an impressive job of nurturing these properties and have created significant value. We are pleased to bring this talent and these great assets to Disney."

Great truths

I've found this on flirck a long time ago and last week i'd seen it on a blog.
A big *thumbs up* for the guy who put it on the wall!

Sean Riley and The Slowriders

Sometimes I rediscover lost albuns and this time was one of that rediscovers. Two years ago I used to ear a lot a single (Moving On) of a Portuguese band, from coimbra, they named them selfs Sean Riley and The Slowriders. Their debut album comes to market in 2007, album that was made by Sean Riley - Voice, Guitar, Harmonica, Organ; Bruno Simões - Bass, Guitar, Melodica, Stylophone, Theremin; Filipe Costa - Organ, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Harmonic; Filipe Rocha - Drums, Upright Bass, Glockenspiel.

This *pack* of 4 musicians release a new album this year, named Only Time Will Tell. Thanks to the guy from Fátima that post the albums on the forum :)

So here's the single from the new album

So keep your Love Locked down

And no, i'm not listen Kanye West. I found a cover from White Lies over a Kanye West music. Really great cover, here goes the lyrics:

I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I'm in love with you but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me all the way home

So you never know, never never know
Never know enough, 'til it's over, love
'Til we lose control, system overload
Screamin', "No, no, no, n-no!?

I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
See I wanna move but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code
So everybody else don't have to know

So keep your love locked down, your love locked down
Keepin' your love locked down, your love locked down
I keep your love locked down, your love locked down
I keep your love locked down, you lose

I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
I can't keep my cool, so I keep it true
I got somethin' to lose, so I gotta move
I can't keep myself and still keep you too

So I keep in mind when I'm on my own
Somewhere far from home, in the danger zone
How many times did I tell ya ?for it finally got through?
You lose, you lose

I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
See I had to go, see I had to move
No more wastin' time, you can't wait for life
We're just racin? time, where's the finish line?

So keep your love locked down, your love locked down
Keepin' your love locked down, your love locked down
I keep your love locked down, your love locked down
I keep your love locked down, you lose

I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
I bet no one knew, I got no one new
Know I said I'm through, but got love for you
But I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to

Gotta keep it goin', keep the lovin' goin'
Keep it on a roll, only God knows
If I be with you, baby I'm confused
You choose, you choose

I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to
Where I wanna go, I don't need you
I've been down this road, too many times before
I'm not lovin' you the way I wanted to

So keep your love locked down, your love locked down
Keepin' your love locked down, your love locked down
I keep your love locked down, your love locked down
I keep your love locked down, you lose
You lose, you lose, you lose, you lose

Citizen Icon

Well I discovered this band between the much albuns reviews that I read on blogs. A band from Atlanta with the led of Chris Cummings (Kathy Fly)and more four Atlanta guys Sean Lay (Cold/Grundig, Eden, Euphobia), Stephen Brink (Crave, Kathy Fly, Eden), Chris Lynn (Crave, Royal 7, Girl Parts, Libras). They release a album, named Look At The Fish and been on tour since then. I listen over and over the album (yes on loop!!!) and is one of the best albuns that I hear this year. They just mix a bunch of music styles, it goes from rock, psychedelic-rock, part grunge, part acoustic and the result is a really good album.

You can listen some of their songs at the myspace of the band and check the news/tour/photos at the website band.

So "Aliens" come back!!!

News flash (at least for me):

Ridley Scott is going to produce a prequel for que saga "Aliens"! When I read this I just smile (god damn at last a nice thing to read this bad week!!). So I googled it and find a lot of links/news about it but I find this one that explain maybe why they doing a prequel and not another "Aliens":

20th Century Fox head Tom Rothman revealed to IESB that there is “some talk” of an Alien “prequel” to go along with the recently announced Robert Rodriguez-produced Predator reboot Predators. Rothman confirms that director Ridley Scott is “toying around with the idea.” And the Fox head gives the impression that another Alien movie, be it sequel, prequel or reboot, would only happen with Scott’s involvement.

I remember reading an interview with Scott where the filmmaker expressed interest in making a prequel that would explore the origins of the space jockey and the Aliens. At one point James Cameron was working on an origin story for a fifth Alien film, but abandoned the development when Aliens vs. Predator was announced. Sigourney Weaver has publicly expressed interest in doing a sequel, but it wouldn’t make sense to include her character in an origin story. But who knows, maybe Ridley is “toying” with some kind of reboot/prequel combo.

and then, today, I just get the confirmation..

Ridley Scott Confirmed to Direct Alien Prequel

After months of rumor and speculation, Variety confirms that 20th Century Fox plans to keep the "Alien" franchise alive with a prequel film that will be directed by original helmer Ridley Scott.

The announcement that Fox has hired a writer comes just two months after the 30th Anniversary of Scott's original sci-fi horror film which launched a series of movie sequels, a number of comic books, and two movies that pit the Aliens against Fox's other creature franchise, the Predator.

Screenwriter Jon Spaihts has been hired to write the prequel after the studio was impressed by his work on two space thrillers, both for Keanu Reeves, called Passengers and Shadow 19.

Peixe:Aviao

Don't find anything really important about the band. I read about them on a national magazine about music (blitz). So I find a referal notice from Adolfo Luxuria Canibal (mitic vocalist from Mao Morta).

Letra:
O arame que rasga,
Uma faca que mói,
Desenha-se um oito que espreme o suor;

O pulso dispara quando então te vejo,
Falha-me a voz,
Simula um harpejo;

Quebrando as unhas,
Moendo o verniz,
Abriu-se uma cova no meio do chão;

Roendo as unhas tusso,
Tremo,
Treino tudo aquilo que vá dizer

...Espera.
...Demora.
Na calma que grita.
...Espera que aperta...

Não tenho saliva..!

Dedos que tremem,
E os pés que se agitam.

Sebastian Grace and The Electric Insects

This week meanwhile I was watching the American version of the serie "Life On Mars", they made one episode related with this band. I quote the only decent mention I found of them:

In 1973 they released their only single "The Last Planet I kissed" which peaked at #27 on the Billboard charts, while the B-Side "Martians On My Mind" only made it as high as #137.

Soon after their album was released, the listening public universally agreed that they shouldn't have bothered and the band split with Grace, declaring that he had "gotten weird."

Sebastian spent the next year consuming massive amounts of psychedelic mushrooms and recording nature sounds for a solo album titled "Cosmic Background Radiation: Hymnals For A Rocket Girl" that was never released, but has floated through the engineering community as a bootleg described as both "ahead of it time" and "total crap" depending on the listener's state of sobriety.

Music

Today I'll write in English. Not that I need to internacionalize the blog but because it flows better.

Well downloaded yesterday two new albums of bands that I like a lot, Dinosaur Jr. and The Mars Volta.

Dinosaur Jr. had announced a couple months ago that gonna to reunited the old guys of the band and I just got a little anxious. Well, I was right anxious they still have the "touch". This new album (Farm) is the proof that not always the reunion of "old" bands are a bad thing to do.

If you want to listen more just visit their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/dinosaurjr

The other one is the new album of The Mars Volta (Octahedron), I just copy+paste an comment of a blog that spoke about this also:

"Octahedron is the stunning new album from The Mars Volta. An album heady with the emotion and high-drama that has always been the bands trademark, their newfound simplicity and focus has delivered some of the most immediate and powerful songs in their discography. The album opens with the tender ache of Since Weve Been Wrong, Cedrics keening vocal establishing a mood thats deeply blue, powerfully melancholic, a suckerpunch that hits every bit as hard as Octahedrons unashamed rockers (the gleaming futuristic funk of Teflon, the tense chase-music of Cotopaxi). Pulling back from the full-tilt experimentation of previous releases, the album invests its energies in Omars gift for songcraft, for swooning guitar runs of high tension and
emotive power (Luciforms epic riffage), and for the nagging hooks and melodies that wreath the churning rhythms of Desperate Graves."

A great great album (as always expected from them!!)

Qual seria a primeira medida, caso vencessem as eleições?

A reforma agrária.

Será o operador a sustentar-vos?

Alegra-me muito e estou excitado.

Perfect Skin!

And when she smiles my way
My eyes go out in vain
For her perfect skin
Yeah, that's perfect skin

She takes me down into the basement to look at her slides
Of her family life, pretty weird at times
At the age of ten she looked like Greta Garbo
And I loved her then but how was she to know that

The Suicide Bittches

Tenho o EP deles.

Sonoridades

Arranjei tempo para procurar "musica". Achei três bandas as quais ando a ouvir atentamente:

- The Rifles

- The View

- The Enemy

Com sonoridades semelhantes entre eles. Vale a pena comprar, fazer download, ouvir em radios online!

Reviver Lisboa

- A carris voltou a ter aqueles bilhetes de "cartao" que tanto jeito dava para os filtros;
- As pessoas continuam a andar de transportes publicos que nem lata de sardinhas, onde no autocarro diz um X numero de lotaçao e toda a gente sabe ler;
- Confirmo que a zona da expo tem o maior numero de secretárias boas por metro quadrado;
- Confirmo também que o café daqui é bom e à borla;

Mow the Lawn

Participando com os Massive Attack em tours(e dando voz a 3 musicas do album Mezzanine), dando voz ao projecto The Future Sound of London e participando vocalmente na cançao "Lament for Gandalf" no filme The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

nesse timbre pardacento
nesse teu jeito fechado
de quem mói um sentimento

E é sempre a primeira vez
em cada regresso a casa
rever-te nessa altivez
de milhafre ferido na asa

"Tags"

"Tag (metadata), a keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information". It's not a new concept but I find a website that use tags for photos. Based on flickr one of the greatest application for photo management and sharing, the project consist on having "planets" for photo tags and we travel on space between tags.(Example Tag Portugal)

It's an application that uses Papervision3D and the result is http://taggalaxy.de/
